11th May 2018 - Missing Agromyzidae names added

Agromyzidae names in the latest update to the Checklist of Diptera of the British Isles [16 March 2018], if missing, have now been added to the Checklists. These include Cerodontha staryi (StarĂ½, 1930); Cerodontha unisetiorbita Zlobin, 1993; Liriomyza cannabis Hendel, 1931; Liriomyza intonsa Spencer, 1976; Liriomyza puella (Meigen, 1830); Metopomyza nigrohumeralis (Hendel, 1931); and Phytomyza scotina Hendel, 1920

10th May 2018 - Links to 'Leafminers and plant galls of Europe' updated

Earlier links to beetles and moths on 'Leafminers and plant galls of Europe' on this website have now been updated to link to those used in the latest version of 'Leafminers and plant galls of Europe' (https://bladmineerders.nl/).

There are currently a total of 73,467 external links on the website and all but 1,556 external links are up to date. The latter are links to the Fauna Europaea Home page awaiting updating when the error with the search function is fixed

27th April 2018 - Dissection links updated

All hyperlinks to the redundant Lepidoptera Dissection Group have been deleted and hyperlinks to the excellent mothdissection.co.uk added for all but a few species. A small minority of the latter's pages currently do not include images of adults or their genitalia, though they might well do so in future.

29th March 2018 - Links to 'Fauna Europaea' updated

In 2016 the old Fauna Europaea site (faunaeur.org) was closed and a new website fauna-eur.org) created. Being retired, I was blissfully unaware of this until yesterday. Links to the old website on this website have now been updated to the new website, although currently, due to a security update, there is no access to the search facility and taxon pages so the link is to the Home page.

I had updated links for the beetles and flies before the new Fauna Europaea crashed and these links are fine. Unfortunately the links to species of moths and sawflies in the old Fauna Europaea aren't automatically redirected to the species page - only the Home page. This is because the two versions have different ids e.g. the beetle Anoplus plantaris was http://www.faunaeur.org/full_results.php?id=250865 and is now https://fauna-eu.org/.../025b5c5a-2ddc-422f-9136.
