TAGETES. Marigolds. [Asteraceae]

Seven species of Tagetes are recorded in Britain. All are introduced and include French Marigold (T. patula). French marigold is native to Mexico and Nicaragua. In addition, it has been cultivated in continental Europe and the United States for its flowers and medicinal properties.

A key to the European miners recorded on Tagetes is provided in Bladmineerders van Europa.

A species of Chromatomyia has been recently recorded in Britain.
